The Bhutan Journal
The Bhutan Journal is annual publication of The Bhutan Watch Inc. It is the first platform for critical reflection, documentation, and scholarly engagement on Bhutan’s and Bhutanese diaspora issues. Started in 2020, the journal has steadily developed into a space for constructive criticism and critical appreciation. Its mission is to document under‑represented narratives, scrutinise state policies, preserve the lived experiences of communities affected by political change and provide promote the culture critical perspective to advance and sustain Bhutanese democracy.
The Journal serves as both an archive and a forum – documenting Bhutan’s contested histories while fostering informed debate about its future. Its blend of scholarship, testimony, and policy analysis makes it a vital resource for researchers, advocates, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding about Bhutan and its diaspora.
Call for Submission
The Bhutan Journal invites writers and researchers to submit articles for its annual issue, published each January. Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts on or before 30 September.
The Journal welcomes original contributions on topics related to Bhutan and the Bhutanese diaspora. Articles should ideally range between 3,000 and 5,000 words. All in‑text citations and references must follow APA style.
The Bhutan Journal is published by Bhutan Watch, a non‑profit and non‑partisan think tank established to:
